When first elected four years ago, my goals were to provide good government for the people of Pleasanton, to enhance our quality of life and preserve our small-town character, to bring people together to address our challenges in a collaborative way, and to plan for a sustainable future with fairness and opportunity for all our citizens. This remains my motivation and why I am running for re-election.

Pleasanton is a wonderful city! I am excited about our future and the opportunities before us. But with opportunities also come challenges. We need leaders who listen to the entire community, who reject special interest politics, and will bring people together to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow.

I believe my track record demonstrates this kind of leadership, a commitment to integrity and good government, and the vision to realize our dreams for a better community. I would be honored to serve four more years as your Councilmember.

About Matt

I was first elected to the City Council in 2004. Prior to my Council service I was a Planning Commissioner from 1998 to 2004, past chair of the Pleasanton Energy Committee, and a member of the West Las Positas Interchange Committee. I have been active in Pleasanton city government for almost 15 years.

I have a B.S. in Marine Engineering Technology from California Maritime Academy (Class of 1979) and am a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer. I'm a Senior Program Manager for an energy efficiency and renewable energy engineering consulting firm located in San Francisco.

I have been married for 26 years to my wife, Wendi, and we and our two grown kids, Joe (23) and Katie (19), have lived in Pleasanton since 1994.
